The Day the Soyokaze Vanished (そよかぜが消えた日 Soyokaze ga kieta hi?) is the twelfth episode of The Irresponsible Captain Tylor. It aired on April 12, 1993 in Japan.
Synopsis
There's a ghost story about the Soyokaze where the captain and all of his crew killed themselves. On a certain day and a certain time, the captain's spirit roams the corridor seeking to destroy the living. But what if it isn't just a story...?[1]
Plot
Tylor and the Marines are scaring the crew with an old ghost story. According to the story, the Soyokaze was demoted ten years ago and the crew had become so bored that they jumped out of the airlock and the captain killed himself out of guilt. That night, at the exact same time the old captain had killed himself ten years ago, the Soyokaze transforms into the Soyokaze of the past. Tylor, Yamamoto, and Yuriko have to deal with the old ghosts of the past. When encountered with the ghost of the captain, the ghost threatens to kill them before realizing how irresponsible Tylor is and instead lets them go free. The Soyokaze returns to normal, although oddly Tylor still holds the deceased captain's pipe. Fuji recognizes the pipe and takes back the demotion.
